Fulshear officials and community members gathered Oct. 8 to celebrate the groundbreaking for Harris Street reconstruction, the city’s first road construction project, City Manager Zach Goodlander said.

The overview

The $3.75 million project aims to renovate Harris Street from FM 1093 to Fifth Street, adding more walkable spaces with the hope of bringing more commercial development to the area by:
  • Replacing street asphalt with concrete paving
  • Constructing a pedestrian plaza from Third to Fifth streets
  • Adding street parking
“This reconstruction project aims to not just enhance our infrastructure, but really the overall experience of our residents and our visitors in the future,” Economic Development Director Annel Guadalupe said.

The project is jointly funded by the Fulshear Development Corp. Type A and B, Goodlander said.

In their own words

The project was identified in the city’s 2019 Livable Centers Planning Study, which focuses on creating walkable spaces, encouraging economic development and revitalization of the city’s downtown area, Public Works Assistant Director Tiffany Stodder said.

“We’re building more than just a street—we’re creating a space where families can come together, local businesses can thrive and the vibrant character of Fulshear can truly shine,” she said. “This project will bring new infrastructure, better roads and public spaces that will foster community engagement and support growth.”
