Work is halfway done on the Texas Department of Transportation’s expansion of FM 1463, one of the Katy area’s north-south corridors, TxDOT officials said.

In a nutshell

The $108.36 million project widens the 6.7-mile road from two lanes to a four-lane divided roadway between I-10 in Katy and FM 1093 in Fulshear. The project will also add sidewalks on both sides, according to the TxDOT website.

Construction began in February 2022 and is set to be completed in early 2027, TxDOT Public Information Officer Kristina Hadley said.

As construction continues on the project over the next three years, drivers can expect some traffic switches to move traffic flow to sections of the new roadway, Hadley said.

“We are mindful to keep traffic moving throughout this project,” Hadley said in an email. “Throughout the project there may be some impacts to the traveling public, but the goal is to minimize those impacts, which will include traffic switches.”
