Community members can now ride along with Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels volunteers before signing up to become a driver, officials announced in a Sept. 25 news release.

About the program

The Training Wheels Program will welcome four participants one Wednesday a month from approximately 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to ride with a driver. The program will begin and end at the Bud O’Shieles distribution center, located at 1330 Band Road, Rosenberg.

Participants must be 18 years old or older and sign a release of liability, according to the release. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes and comfortable clothing.

"This program is a great way to introduce community members to our mission and inspire them to help us continue providing vital services to our seniors."

Ride-alongs will begin in October and will alternate Wednesdays each month, Director of Development Kristie Phillips said in an email.
