The city of Fulshear will make repairs to multiple city buildings following Hurricane Beryl with hopes to mitigate future storm damage, officials said.

The details

At a Sept. 17 meeting, Fulshear City Council approved a $271,491 contract with JLS Real Estate for City Hall and police department building repairs for damage caused by Beryl.

According to agenda documents, facility exterior repairs will cost $250,646, and will include repairs to windows and drainage, following leaking issues. Meanwhile, interior repairs will cost $20,845 for plywood repair and replacement as well as insulation and sheetrock installation.

The repairs will be funded by surplus funds from the fiscal year 2023-24 budget, City Manager Zach Goodlander said. Additionally, city staff will continue to seek reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Looking ahead

A timeline has not been set for the project as employees will have to be shifted around during window repair, Public Works Assistant Director Tiffany Stodder said.
