At a March 12 Commissioners Court meeting, Fort Bend County commissioners approved a $17.21 million Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement for coronavirus pandemic recovery costs.

How we got here

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Bend County provided free services for the community, such as personal protective equipment and vaccinations. In accordance with the federal COVID-19 Emergency Declaration, emergency protective measures are available for FEMA reimbursements, officials said.

Fort Bend County received emergency protective measures reimbursement for:
  • Contracted services for distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Overtime for county and temporary employees for the distribution of personal protective equipment and public information
  • Materials and equipment rental to support distribution of supplies, vaccinations and public information
The reimbursement includes county efforts from January 2020 to July 1, 2022, managed by MPact Strategic Consulting, Inc., officials said.
