The Katy and Fulshear area are growing, according to five-year estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.

The 2022 results, which were released Dec. 7, show the population in the city of Fulshear grew 247.44% between the 2022 five-year estimates and 2017 five-year estimates—the most quickly compared to the city of Katy and residents in Katy ISD and Lamar CISD's boundaries.

The school districts' populations include residents inside the district's boundaries, not student enrollment.
Additionally, the city of Fulshear's age demographics skewed younger than the surrounding area. A higher percentage of the city's residents are in the 0-19 age bracket—between 6 and 3 percentage points higher than the other areas.
When comparing races and ethnic demographics between 2017-22, data shows the Katy and Fulshear areas are becoming more diverse. The percentage of the population who are people of color increased in almost all areas.
