The candidate filing period for the May 3 elections has closed, and there are several contested races taking place in both the Katy and Fulshear areas.

On the ballot

The May ballot includes multiple positions on Katy ISD, Katy City Council, Fulshear City Council and Lamar CISD.

The in-person candidate filing period ended Feb. 14, though Feb. 18 is the deadline for the candidate for the write-in period, according to the Texas Secretary of State Office’s website.

Looking ahead


Residents wishing to participate in the election must register to vote by April 3. Early voting will be held April 22-29, with election day bringing up the helm on Saturday, May 3, according to the SOS website.
