The candidate filing deadline for the May 4 election has now closed, and there are several contested races taking place in both the Katy and Fulshear areas.

The May ballot will offer multiple positions on Katy City Council, Fulshear City Council and Katy ISD.

The in-person candidate filing period ended Feb. 16, though Feb. 20 is the deadline for the candidate write-in period. If the races for Katy City Council wards A and B as well as Fulshear City Council districts 2 and 3 remain uncontested, the races may be canceled, city officials said. Looking ahead


Residents wishing to participate in the election must register to vote by April 4. Early voting will be held April 22-30, with election day bringing up the helm on Saturday, May 4, according to the Texas secretary of state office’s website.
