Katy-area residents can soon apply for positions in the May 3 uniform election.

A closer look

The candidate filing period for the local election opens Jan. 15 and closes Feb. 14, according to Texas Secretary of State’s website. Multiple positions for Katy ISD, Katy City Council, Fulshear City Council and Lamar CISD will be on the ballot.

According to the entities’ websites, positions on the ballot include:

KISD board of trustees, Position 1
  • Held by Victor Perez, who serves as board president
KISD board of trustees, Position 2
  • Held by Amy Alsheikh Thieme, who serves as board vice president
Katy mayor
  • Held by William "Dusty" Thiele
Fulshear City Council, District 1
  • Held by Sarah Johnson
Fulshear City Council, District 4
  • Held by Joel Patterson; the position is term-limited, meaning Patterson is unable to run for re-election.
Fulshear City Council, District 5
  • Held by Abhi Utturkar
Fulshear City Council, At-Large
  • Held by Kent Pool; the position is term-limited, meaning Pool is unable to run for re-election.
LCISD board of trustees, District 1
  • Held by Zach Lambert, who serves as board president
LCISD board of trustees, District 2
  • Held by Kay Danziger
LCISD board of trustees, District 3
  • Held by Mandi Bronsell
LCISD board of trustees, District 6
  • Held by Joe Hubenak

Term durations vary for each entity, with Fulshear City Council members serving two years, Katy City Council and KISD board members serving three years, and LCISD board members serving four-year terms, according to their respective websites.
