Proper Rose Garden, an afternoon tea cafe, will shutter its doors in Katy at the end of January after nearly five years of service, owners confirmed via Facebook.

The overview

The closure comes after the business faced several challenges including natural disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising costs of goods and labor, according to a Jan. 13 Facebook announcement by owner Michael Jiang. The cafe, which opened in June 2020, will continue to offer its signature teas as well as various sandwiches and homemade desserts through Jan. 26.

“This journey has been more than just a business for us—it has been a labor of love, a place where so many memories were created and a home where friendships blossomed over tea and conversation,” Jiang said in the post. “Each one of you has been part of our story, and we are so grateful for your unwavering support.”

What else?

Although the business will close its doors, Jiang said they are still looking for ways to bring back Proper Rose Garden in a new form. Those with partnership or other opportunities should reach out to [email protected], according to the post.
