The Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce rebranded in late May to the Fulshear Regional Chamber for Commerce.

What happened

The rebrand was done to adapt to the Fulshear region's growth, said Thao Lam, director of engagement at the chamber. The membership area the chamber serves hasn’t changed; the new name is meant to reflect staff’s mission to support local businesses, Lam said.

“People are familiar with chambers of commerce, but we wanted to convey that our chamber is for businesses, it’s for commerce,” she said. “We want to promote healthy, positive commerce between our businesses and our residents.”

The backstory

The chamber celebrated its 10-year anniversary in December, according to an event posting on the website. Before being known as the Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, the organization was the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce, Lam said.

Lam said the chamber’s members come from across the Houston area, including Brookshire, Simonton and Sealy.

"It doesn't change anything for the members, but we want the community to understand that we did this because of the growth that Fulshear is seeing right now," she said. "We were wanting to stay ahead of the curve and encompass the area surrounding Fulshear."
