Katy residents can now travel on the partially reopened Greenbusch Road as a renovation project awaits action from the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court, according to county Communications Director Tami Frazier.

The details

Despite the construction not yet being completed on Greenbusch Road, the roadway is in a condition that allows it to be open to traffic until the project's revisions are approved by Commissioners Court, according to Frazier.

The ongoing project between Gaston Road and Westheimer Parkway consists of replacing the two-lane asphalt road with deep ditches to a two-lane concrete road with a new bridge, according to county project documents.

The cost of construction remains at $7.4 million, and the project is funded by a 2013 county mobility bond.

What’s next

The project needs additional modifications that will require surveying and contract amendments that must be approved by Commissioners Court before the project can continue, Frazier said. The county doesn’t have a definitive timeline as of Aug. 22.
