Applications have opened for Bright Futures Academy, a charter school for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, set to launch in the 2026-27 school year at Beasley Elementary in Lamar CISD.
The academy will also be open to students requiring intensive support and students needing special programming, according to the district's website.
The details
The charter school—a partnership between the district and nonprofit Lamar Legacy Partners—will serve students 3 years old to second grade with:
- Specialized classrooms tailored to sensory and behavioral needs
- Targeted communication and behavioral support
- A team that understands how to help children navigate the school day
The academy—which will be staffed with teachers trained in applied behavior analysis and therapeutic strategies—will also offer at-home support with required parents training, according to the district’s website.
The program will also be supported by behavioral therapists, counselors, psychologists and certified professionals in special education.

District officials are set to host several upcoming informational meetings, including:
- Feb. 19 from 6-7 p.m. at the Beasley Elementary cafeteria
- March 4 from 1-2 p.m. at the Brazos Crossing Administration Building
- March 19 from 6-7 p.m. at the Beasley Elementary cafeteria

District parents can apply online through March 20 at www.lcisd.org/brightfutures, per the district’s website. Interested parties must live within district boundaries or be approved for an inter-district transfer and sign a family partnership agreement.
