What’s new?
Funded by the 2022 $1.5 billion bond program, the following campuses will open for the first time for the 2025-26 school year:
- Fagert Elementary School, located at Bellaire Boulevard and FM 723
- Haygood Elementary School, located near Cross Creek West in Fulshear
- Secondary Complex 7, located at 8020 Farm to Market Rd 723 in Richmond, which will house Tomas High School, Banks Junior High and Bielstein Middle School
Marlon Waites, LCISD chief student service officer, said at the June 17 board meeting that House Bill 1481, passed in June, overrides the school policy approved in January by banning student phone use during the school day, including during lunch and other non-instructional time.
Waites said that the bill also eliminates the previously enforced $15 fee charged to LCISD students for retrieving confiscated phones.
According to a July 10 news release, updates to the cell phone policy include:
- Personal communication devices must be stored in the student’s backpack or locker while on school property during the day.
- Violation of the policy will result in device confiscation, followed by parent communication and pick up, in addition to campus-specific restrictions.
- In emergency situations, LCISD students are advised to make emergency calls at the front desk.
Important to note
Bus schedules
Eligible students who live more than half a mile away from their home school may be transported via bus, per the website.
With access to a student’s ID number, parents can view a student’s bus route through the VersaTrans My Stop E-Link and may track the bus with the My Stop app, according to the website.
Parents must have submitted a bus form on Skyward by Aug. 3 for their child to be able to take the bus on the first day of school. If filled out between Aug. 4-22, the child will be able to ride the bus by Aug. 25. After Aug. 23, a child will have to wait five business days before riding the bus.
Nutrition
Beginning in August, students in prekindergarten through fifth grade will pay $2.55 for lunch, middle school students will pay $2.65 and high school students will pay $2.75
Students at select campuses are eligible for free lunch, while other students have to apply to receive benefits, per the website.

Moving forward
The board of trustees is expected to review the community survey results and consider calling a bond election during its Aug. 12 meeting, Chief Communications Officer Sonya Cole-Hamilton said.
If approved, the bond measure—set for the Nov. 4 ballot—would determine funding for several new campuses, technology upgrades and stadium repairs.
