The gist
The changes will affect families in three specific areas within the Acreage Homes and Westlake communities, shifting their junior high assignment from Cinco Ranch to Tays, Chief Operating Officer Vierling said at the March 24 meeting.
The affected areas include:
- Acreage Homes 60 C: Pecan Street, Lakeview Road, Cedar Lane, Roesner Lane and southwest of Westheimer Parkway near the Grayson Lakes neighborhood
- Acreage Homes 60 D: Hunter Lane, Tina Lane, Karen Lane, Sam Robinson Road and northeast of Gaston Road near the Grayson Lakes neighborhood
- Westlake 60 D: northeast of Gaston Road near Tompkins High School

However, now that Tays Junior High School’s enrollment has declined, the proposed boundary modification would offer greater convenience for affected families, Vierling said.
How we got here
A survey conducted April 1-30 gathered feedback from approximately 200 affected recipients, with 94 respondents, Chief Communications Officer Andrea Grooms said at the May 5 work study board meeting.
Of those who responded, 74% supported the change, citing shorter commutes, better transportation access and confidence in the academic experience at Tays Junior High School, Grooms said.
Moving forward
The change will create a more cohesive student progression for those moving from Wood Creek Elementary School to join their peers at Tays Junior High School, Grooms said.
The change will take effect this August for the start of the 2025-26 school year, she said.
