The Katy ISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting Sept. 18 where the fiscal year 2023-24 tax rate and boundary modifications will be discussed.

The breakdown

The district will review preliminary results for a community feedback survey on potential attendance boundary modifications for the upcoming Junior High No. 18, High School No. 10, Haskett Junior High School, Stockdick Junior High School, Katy High School and Paetow High School.

Some of these schools in the northwest quadrant of the district are facing capacity challenges, according to previous reporting from Community Impact. The district’s bond appearing on November ballots aims to address capacity in this area.

The district will also discuss the adoption of the FY 2023-24 tax rate, including the maintenance and operations rate and the debt service rate.

The total combined rate from FY 2022-23 is $1.3048 per $100 of value, according to the district’s tax rate webpage. A previous budget presentation from the district from Aug. 21 shows a recommended tax rate of $1.1194 per $100 of valuation, or an $0.18 decrease.
