City of Bellaire
The city of Bellaire will accept Christmas tree drop-offs Dec. 26-Jan. 12 at 4401 Edith St., Houston. Flocked trees will not be accepted, and all lights, ornaments and tinsel must be removed from the trees. Trees can be placed near the recycling sign.
City of Houston
Houston residents can recycle trees at one of the city's 20 drop-off locations Dec. 26-Jan. 23. Residents must remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, wire, nails and stands. Flocked, painted or artificial trees cannot be recycled.
City of Pearland
Residents in the city of Pearland can drop their live Christmas trees off between Dec. 26 and Jan. 17 in the hopper containers and trailers at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, 5800 Magnolia Parkway, Pearland. Trees cannot have any flocking, glitter, artificial snow or lights.
San Jacinto River Authority
In partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Montgomery County Commissioners Court, the San Jacinto River Authority will collect undecorated, live Christmas trees through Jan. 31. The trees will be used to create artificial habitats for fish in Lake Conroe.
City of West University Place
In the city of West University Place, live trees will be collected Dec. 26-Jan. 9. Trees must be free of any foreign materials or objects and placed curbside on a regular waste collection day to be composted and recycled as mulch.
The Woodlands Township
Green Christmas trees will be collected curbside on regular service days. Residents must remove all stands, decorations and lights from the tree. Flocked Christmas trees can be scheduled as bulk pick-up at least two working days before residents’ regular service day by calling 800-800-5804 or emailing [email protected].
City of Sugar Land
Live Christmas trees without ornaments and lights can be set out curbside for green waste pickup in Sugar Land. Residents can set out their trees by 7 a.m. on collection day, but no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before, at least 4 feet from other objects.
Loose materials should be placed in a reusable container or clear or translucent bags and tied. Compostable bags are not required. Brush and tree limbs must be less than 4 inches in diameter and less than 4 feet in length or between 4 inches and 6 inches and less than 2 feet in length. Tree limbs must be stacked in small piles 3 feet high and 3 feet wide, and while bundling is not required, it is recommended.
