The second Houston location of the coffee shop La La Land Kind Cafe will open in the Montrose Collective on Aug. 20 at 888 Westheimer Road, Ste. 106, Houston, company officials announced in an Aug. 16 press release.

The first Houston location of the Dallas-based chain opened in the MKT Heights development in May. The venue is known for its Instagram aesthetic and coffee sleeves that feature motivational messages, such as "Be kind" and "Be the person your dog thinks you are."

La La Land's focus on hiring people who have aged out of the foster care system will be carried on at the new location, according to the release. The company also offers an eight-week internship program that helps with life skills, on-the-job training and mentorship as well as help with housing, schooling and therapy needs.

Drinks offered at the shop include organic fair-trade coffees. More than 20 different matcha drinks are made with ceremonial-grade matcha imported from family-owned farms in Japan, according to the release. Food items include avocado toast and overnight oats.

A grand opening event will take place from 6:30-7 p.m. Aug. 20. wwwlalalandkindcafe.com
