“We knew it was not only important but also crucial to make sure the LGBTQ community was represented when it comes to economic development and economic inclusion,” said Tammi Wallace, co-founder, president and CEO of the chamber in a news release. “With our work since the launch of the Chamber, we have created a ‘seat at the table’ for the LGBTQ Business Community."
The organization is open to all and serves members throughout the Greater Houston area.
Since its foundation, the group has expanded the number of LGBTQ-Certified businesses in the region and state and created economic opportunities for its members, the release stated.
The newly formed LGBT Chamber Foundation takes the charitable arm of the chamber by raising funds for initiatives that aim to address economic inequity within the LGBTQ community.
“There is so much work to do to make sure the LGBTQ community is represented when it comes to economic development and economic inclusion,” Wallace said.
