The rate at which residents in the Greater Houston area got the COVID-19 vaccine peaked in late March and early April 2021. Several smaller surges took place over the course of the summer and fall of that year before slowing down in 2022.
Over seven Houston-area counties, Fort Bend County has the largest percentage of people vaccinated who are age 5 or older at nearly 80%, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The lowest vaccination rate has been recorded in Waller County, where just under half of residents age 5 or older have been vaccinated.
