Heights Mystery Book Club

Readers can join a mystery book club at the Heights Neighborhood Houston Library. In October, the club will read “Clouds of Witness” by Dorothy L. Sayers.'Traditions Reimagined'

The Kinetic Ensemble orchestra performs a concert with music written by composers from across the globe. Music featured in the show is created using material taken from the geographic and cultural contexts of each composer, including Turkish folk music and contemporary pop music, among others.

Cigna Sunday in the Park

Organized by the Mayor's Office of Special Events, the Sunday in the Park series is meant to spotlight "unique" neighborhoods in the city of Houston while promoting local businesses and connection among neighbors, Cigna officials said. The event includes music, dancing, free food and games.Bayou City Art Festival


The annual festival showcases the work of 300 artists across 19 different art categories. Other entertainment in 2024 includes lives music, a stilt-walker show, a hula hoop show and group yoga.

2024 Korean Festival Houston

This event hosted by the Korean-American Society of Houston at Discovery Green Park celebrates Korean culture through immersive dance presentations, K-pop shows, cuisine and interactive games.

Pickleball 'Pickleboo' tournament

The tournament benefits Young Professionals of Be a Resource Houston, which helps at-risk and CPS-involved youth in the city. Registration includes participation in a single-elimination bracket tournament, team shirts, an open bar, champion prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Game balls are provided and paddles are avialible to borrow.

Indigenous People's Day: A Celebration for All Nations

Xochipilli Collective presents a celebration at Buffalo Bayou Park for Indigenous People's Day, honoring the histories, cultures, and enduring presence of Indigenous peoples. The event includes a DJ, vendor booths, a film screening, and performances by Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl and Cancega Xicas Unidas.

'Rocky Horror Picture Show'


Celebrate the return of historic River Oaks Theatre by attending a screening of 1975 film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." The event is paired with a burlesque show from local group The Sisterhood of Lili St Cyr, which taps talent from the Texas burlesque and drag communities.'Butterfly Effect'

Asia Society Texas, Houston Contemporary Dance Company and Open Dance Project partner on the event, which includes an original work by ODP’s Executive Artistic Director Annie Arnoult.

The Silos Open Art Studios

Meet with Houston artists at The Silos at Sawyer Yards as their studios and galleries are on display. Every third Saturday of the month, The Silos open for artists to share their latest projects and sources of inspiration.Houston Margarita Festival

Bartenders will mix competition drinks at Waterworks Park at Buffalo Bayou at this event, which also features live DJs playing mariachi, hip hop, R&B, Latin and reggae. Attendees can purchase competition margaritas and vote for their favorite. This event is cash-only.ArBOOretum


The event will feature carnival swings, a trick-or-treat nature trail, a Halloween market, live animal encounters, pumpkin decorating and a train ride. All proceeds support the Houston Arboretum.

Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce spaghetti lunch

The inaugural lunch raises funds for the chamber's Community Fund, which supports scholarships and provides assistance to those in need within the community. The event includes a complete homemade-style spaghetti lunch with toppings, garlic bread, a tossed Italian-style salad and iced tea.'Glow,' presented by Williams

The annual event at Memorial Park features an open bar, light bites, music, dancing, a costume contest, tarot card readings, magician performances, a candy bar and Halloween surprises. All proceeds from ticket sales support Memorial Park.

Time of Remembrance

Hosted by the Rothko Chapel, the event features music, poetry, and personal stories in observance of Dia de los Muertos and All Saints' Day. Attendees are encouraged to bring a small keepsake, photo, or item to contribute to a shared altar, honoring the memory of loved ones who have passed.
