Several groups in the Heights are collaborating on a new, free festival celebrating art, music and community along one of the area's main corridors.

The big picture

The I Love 11th Neighborhood Festival will take place Dec. 2 along 11th Street in the Heights from Shepherd Drive to Michaux Street. The event is being organized by the Friends of Lawrence and Milroy Parks, A Tale of Two Bridges, and Createpreneurs.

The details

The day-long event will feature various markets and performances as well as opportunities to support local causes and businesses. Throughout the day, activities will include:


Breakfast, coffee and toy drives: 9 a.m.-noon
  • A New Leaf, 219 W. 11th St., Houston
  • C&D Hardware, 314 E. 11th St., Houston
  • Goodlad Barber, 1030 Heights Blvd., Houston
Main events: noon- 6 p.m.
  • West Market at Bespoke, 501 W. 11th St., Houston
  • Central Market at Doug’s Barbershop, 1101 Cortlandt St., Houston
  • East Market across Bellagreen, 743 E. 11th St., Houston
Evening festivities 6-9 p.m.
  • EQ Heights, 1030 Heights Blvd., Houston
  • Redbud Arts Center, 303 E.11th St., Houston
Street musicians will be performing along 11th Street between noon-6 p.m., event organizers said. Other performances will come from:
  • Legacy Man, a local skateboard performer
  • Boomtown Brass Band
  • School of Rock
  • Bosa II, a husband and wife duo playing Latin jazz

During the event, participating local businesses donate a portion of their proceeds to the Friends of Lawrence and Milroy Parks to help fund local parks.

Admission to the festival is free, and VIP tickets are available for $50, granting access to a VIP area and the newly opened cocktail bar Best Regards from noon-8 p.m. Attendees can pay $15 for a souvenir tote bag with goods for participating sponsors.

Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or rideshare to the event, but parking is available at Kido Heights, Regions Bank, Heights Funeral Home and Frost Bank.
