The 49th annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta has been postponed as organizers hope for an improved COVID-19 outlook this fall.
"As much as we love hosting Texas' largest canoe and kayak race every March, it's not looking like it can be as safe as we need it to be given the current circumstances," the Buffalo Bayou Partnership said in a Facebook post announcing the decision.
The event, which raises funds for the partnership through a 15.5-mile race down Buffalo Bayou, will be held Oct. 2.
The 48th annual event was held March 7, 2020, before the COVID-19 outbreak led to widespread closures and event cancellations in Houston.
