Houston ISD's 2021-2022 academic calendar was approved April 8. Similar to its revised 2020-21 calendar, it includes additional instructional time to offset learning losses that occurred amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The additional days are listed as "enrichment days" on the calendar and will only be for targeted student populations, according to information presented to the board of trustees.

For holidays, the calendar includes one week off for Thanksgiving and spring break and two weeks off for winter break. Other days off are Labor Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Chavez-Huerta Day, and Memorial Day, as well as a fall holiday on Sept. 16 and a spring holiday on April 15, 2022.

The first day of school for students is Aug. 23 and the last day is June 7, 2022.
