An online training course to help prepare Houston ISD parents for the virtual return to school is set to go live Aug. 10.

Titled Parent Introduction to Virtual Learning, the course will cover ways to support their student, technology, special populations and academic policies.

HISD will offer virtual classes from Sept. 8 through Oct. 19, but it is allowing parents to opt into virtual education for the full semester or academic year.

The district is asking parents who decide to opt into extended virtual learning to complete the course by Sept. 4, giving them four weeks to view the material.

HISD is also developing two courses for students covering COVID-19 protocols and introducing them to online learning.
