Officials with the Dallas-based Tex-Mex eatery chain Mi Cocina opened the first Houston outpost in the River Oaks District in November 2023. Less than two years later, an official closure announcement was posted on the restaurant’s website.

What they're saying

“Thank you for your support of Mi Cocina in Houston. As we wrap up operations at this location, we want to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who dined with us and to our incredible team who brought the Mi Cocina experience to life. Effective March 20, this location is closed,” the statement read.

Mi Cocina was known for its brisket tacos and Tex-Mex staples, including enchiladas, tamales, seafood dishes and brunch options. The Houston location offered a full bar and selection of margaritas. Mi Cocina has 23 other locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as a Tulsa, Oklahoma location, according to its website.
