Alora is taking popular Vietnamese-Cajun restaurant Kâu Ba's place, which closed several weeks ago.

“Before making our final decision to start Alora, my business partners and I traveled to Saigon recently to explore coffee shops, local markets, restaurants and cafes," Alora co-founder and Operations Executive Louis Lamson Quy said in the news release. "That trip enabled us to solidify our vision for Alora and inspired us to create a special menu that fuses flavorful Vietnamese and Peruvian foods.”

What to expect

Before its grand opening in December, Alora will host a patio pop-up party for Houston area foodies, media, family, friends and neighbors Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Guests at the pop-up event will have the opportunity to sample menu items, wines, beers and cocktails. The event will include dishes such as ceviche and Shaking Lomo Saltado, a fusion dish inspired by the popular Peruvian beef dish and the popular Vietnamese shaking beef dish.

"Peruvian cuisine has a lot of influence by Asian countries," Quy told Community Impact. "Peruvian and Vietnamese is kind of underrated in the world map, so we try to make something different and elevate it."
