River Oaks District will welcome its first Japanese restaurant this winter when Azumi takes over the former location of Ouzo Bay at 4444 Westheimer Road, Houston.

Azumi, a name translating to “safe harbor" in Japanese, is a concept from Atlas Restaurant Group.

This location of Azumi will be the sister to the flagship location at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore, according to a May 30 news release.

“We’re excited to bring the culinary artistry of Azumi to Houston’s vibrant dining epicenter, River Oaks District, and look forward to creating lasting memories for guests,” said Alex Smith, Atlas president and CEO. “At Azumi, our focus will be the presentation of a sophisticated and immersive Japanese dining experience that finds harmony and balance in both the traditional and innovative.”

Per the release, Atlas Executive Concept Chef Alisher Yallaev will relocate to Houston to oversee menu development and operations for Azumi.
