On May 29, Fat Cat Creamery closed its Heights location at 1901 N. Shepherd Drive, Houston. The Heights location was the ice cream shop's first, opened by owner Sarah Johnston in 2013.

The ice cream parlor marked the closing with a "Going Up The Street" party on May 28.

"This first shop has been my love for the last 10 years," Johnston said in a May 23 post on Facebook. "It's been a place of everything for me: hope, dreams, happiness, heartache, blood, sweat, tears, hugs, arguments, love, friendship and fun. Words can't express how much it's given (and taken away) from me over the last 10 years."

Fat Cat Creamery's second location in Garden Oaks—at 1225 W. 34th St., Houston—will remain open.

The ice cream shop will also soon serve up frozen treats at Hobby Airport—at 7800 Airport Blvd., Houston—this fall.
