In a Sept. 19 news release, officials with Fertitta Hospitality unveiled the Westin Houston Downtown hotel after it completed an extensive multimillion-dollar renovation that started in 2024.

“This renovation marks a new chapter for The Westin Houston Downtown,” general manager Brian Sciberras said. “People stay with us because of the care, service and location we provide. With refreshed rooms and vibrant dining areas, we’ve created spaces that feel inviting, comfortable and distinctly Houston.”

What's changed?

According to the release, key highlights of the renovation include the lobby area, which features the Ballpark Cafe, a lounge area and an entertainment unit. The Ballpark Cafe, which offers craft cocktails alongside game-day-inspired fare, now serves as a gathering spot for locals and visitors heading to Daikin Park.

The bar was designed to incorporate materials inspired by Houston's natural landscape, a concept that flows into the lounge area with a large custom mirror commissioned by a local artist and inspired by the texture of tree bark. The lobby is also now divided by a new entertainment unit with an 85-inch screen.

Meeting areas also received notable upgrades, including custom carpeting depicting the Houston skyline, pendant lighting and enhanced technology.

Additional changes include refreshing all 200 guest rooms, which now feature new flooring and expanded amenities, including mini refrigerators and reading lights built into the headboards, per the release.

Each room is also outfitted with plush Heavenly Beds and upscale amenities such as Starbucks Coffee, USB ports, motion-sensor nightlights, 55-inch high-definition televisions and enhanced in-room Wi-Fi.

Bathrooms will include illuminated vanity mirrors, new stone counter tops and Westin’s signature Heavenly Showers. According to the release, the Fitness Room has also been upgraded to include new Technogym Treadmills and Ellipticals and a Recumbent bike. Guests can also book limited rooms with a Peloton included.
