UNITi Montrose is offering Houston residents a new style of affordable living by introducing a mix of co-living spaces, micro-units and traditional apartments in the city's urban center.

In a nutshell

Civitas Capital Group and The Shelter Companies announced the launch of UNITi in a news release April 16 that outlined the concept of the new housing model.

According to the release, the complex, located at 701 Richmond Ave., will be the first major multifamily property in Houston to provide fully furnished micro and co-living units.

Micro units, according to the Urban Land Institute, are small studio apartments, typically less than 350 square feet. A co-living unit is a modern form of communal living where residents get a private bedroom in a furnished home with shared common areas.
  • UNITi Montrose will be a nine-story building comprised of 374 leasable bedrooms and approximately 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
  • It will provide a range of community amenities including a pool, rooftop deck, a club, sky and TV lounges, fitness center, co-working spaces, podcast room and a library.
  • All services such as utilities, WiFi and cable are included.
Pre-leasing is now open for the complex, with initial move-ins starting in June. Rent starts at $1,200 per month.
