Local officials are still grappling with ways to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The city of Houston is rolling out a new campaign this month targeting the hardest-hit and most at-risk communities.

"Thousands of our family and friends have been sickened and hundreds of Houstonians have died because of the virus,” Mayor Sylvester Turner said in an announcement of the "Better. Together." campaign.

As of July 30, more than 45,000 cases have been reported in Houston and over 71,000 in Harris County overall since the outbreak began. The seven-day rolling average of new cases added is over 1,300 cases per day.

By population, Harris County has seen about 13 cases for very 1,000 residents. By ZIP code, the incidence of COVID-19 is not equally distributed.

Here are the top five ZIP codes based on total cases per capita, as of July 30.

  • 77002: 53.0 per 1,000
