ZIP code 77018—home to Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, Independence Heights and other neighborhoods associated with the Greater Heights area of Houston—was the city's most frequent target for demolition permits in 2019, city records show.

More than 2,000 demolition permits were issued by the city in 2019, with about half of all permits going to 10 ZIP codes: 77004, 77006, 77007, 77008, 77009, 77018, 77019, 77025, 77055 and 77096.
