A section of the I-610 West Loop will be closed completely overnight June 28 to prepare for more work on the uptown bus lane project, the Texas Department of Transportation announced June 21. Specifically, I-610 southbound from Woodway Drive to Post Oak Road will be shut down from 9 p.m. June 24 to 5 a.m. June 25. Traffic will be diverted to the Post Oak exit ramp and re-enter I-610 southbound at the Post Oak entrance ramp. For the next two weeks after this closure, more major closures are planned, including during the July 4 weekend. From 9 p.m. June 28 to 5 a.m. July 1 and between 9 p.m. July 5 and 5 a.m. July 8, the following is scheduled:
  • Total closure of I-610 southbound from I-10 to Post Oak Road, including the I-10 connectors to I-610 southbound. Southbound traffic will be required to detour to I-10 east or west.
  • Closure of the the Hwy. 290 east ramp to I-610 southbound. Drivers can continue on I-610 north to I-45 south to Hwy. 59 south to I-610 West Loop,
  • I-610 northbound will have two inside lanes closed from South Post Oak Road to Woodway Drive.
