While the tear down of the longtime punk rock venue Fitzgerald's has been underway since early May, permits officially were logged this week along with the demolition of two adjacent residential properties on E. 6th 1/2 Street and another facing Studewood Street.

The properties are owned by a holding company associated with EasyPark LLC, a firm that specializes in automated parking garages.

Not too far from this Heights project, another commercial project is making headway in the Washington Avenue corridor. Rethink, a coworking space catering to real estate and development professionals, received permits for demolition work at 1512 Center St.

"In a former mattress factory, we are transforming the warehouse into our flagship location," a statement on the firm's website reads. The firm is also planning a location in Denver.
