The Dogtopia at 1315 Waugh Drive, Houston, will be reopen Dec. 18 with new facilities and an increased capacity, according to a Dec. 12 news release. The store first closed for renovations in November 2022.
Meanwhile, a new Dogtopia location will then open in mid-January at 2311 Washington Ave., Houston.
The business will offer day care, overnight services and spa services under the supervision of trained "canine coaches." Dogs in indoor playrooms play with other dogs of similar size and play style. Playrooms are built with compressed rubber flooring to reduce the impact on on dogs' joints, according to the release.
Both locations are owned by local entrepreneur Amber Woods, who also owns a location of the franchise on West Alabama Street.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to open these two Dogtopia facilities in Houston, addressing a significant need for dog parents in the area who currently lack a dedicated space for their pets' care," Woods said in a statement.
Dogtopia also raises funds through its nonprofit Dogtopia Foundation for service dogs for veterans, therapy dogs for students and employment initiatives for adults with autism.
