A new location of Amy's Ice Creams is launching into the Heights with an eight-week grand opening celebration that began Aug. 2.

The new location can be found at 1901 N. Shepherd Drive, Houston, in at retail center at the West 19th Street intersection. The shop is known for having more than 350 flavors of ice cream in rotation, including an array of seasonal and vegan flavors.

As part of the grand opening, Amy's is debuting a vending machine that gives out prizes and discounts in exchange for tokens. Prizes include free ice cream, toys, Amy’s merchandise, and "side quests"—interactive challenges that guests can take part in.

Guests can earn tokens by completing an ice cream-themed activity sheet, participating in themed weeks and making donations to various nonprofits as part of a separate fundraising event.

The new Heights location is Amy's first new Houston store in 25 years, according to an Aug. 1 news release.

"Houston has always been a vital part of our journey. Its vibrant energy and diverse palate continue to inspire us," said Alan Hixon, CEO of Amy’s Ice Creams, in a statement. "Our goal is to craft delightful ice cream experiences that reflect the city's joy and warmth."
