Kraftsmen Bakery & Cafe, which has been in business since 2001, ceased its cafe operations March 12. According to a March 8 press release, as Krasftmen nears the end of its lease at its Heights location, before it relocates later this year, it will only offer baked goods and wholesale services. The bakery will remain open Tuesday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Kraftsmen’s breads are served at more than 200 restaurants in the Houston, Galveston and Austin areas, including North Italia, Katz Deli and Roostar, per the press release.

“We have loved being a part of the Heights community, but our lease is expiring at 611 W. 22nd St., and we are not able to continue the full-service cafe operations at this location,” owner Scott Tycer said. “We will continue to serve our artisan breads to both retail customers and our wholesale accounts, and hope to share plans for our new location in the near future. We very much enjoy the cafe portion and intend to jump back in when we can. As to our employees, we will use our wholesale client list of restaurants to help them find employment. I would like to thank all our wonderful customers who have supported us through the years.”
