Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said Google's decision to open a sales office in Houston will contribute to the city's efforts toward "establishing a very integrated, robust ecosystem."
The remarks came with the news June 17, first reported by the Houston Chronicle, that the search engine giant would open a presence at the Buffalo Heights development at 3663 Washington Ave., Houston, which includes office space as well as an H-E-B and apartments.
"Google is one of those entities we have been targeting, and the fact that they are expanding to city of Houston speaks well," he said. "We are no longer walking; we are sprinting in terms of this development of this ecosystem."
The announcement also came the day after the city celebrated being selected for the expansion of Greentown, a clean energy technology incubator, which is slated to open a presence near downtown in spring 2021.
