A new jazz supper club is set to occupy Montrose's historic Tower Theatre, according to an October news release.

Doc Watkins, who owns San Antonio club Jazz, TX, is expanding into Houston territory with a yet unnamed live music and dining concept, per the release.

“I’m thrilled to bring this club to life in Houston, especially in a venue as iconic as the Tower Theatre,” Watkins said in a statement. “We look forward to creating a space where live music, great food and Houston’s vibrant culture come together.”

The details

The venue aims to reintroduce live music to a "cherished landmark in Houston's cultural landscape," per the release.

The club will occupy a marquee space at the multi-unit, 33,500-square-foot mixed-use development, which was acquired in fall 2023 by real estate company Radom Capital. Radom is the same company behind the Montrose Collective and M-K-T retail spaces.

More details on the opening date and additional plans for the new venue will be announced in coming months, per the release.

Diving in deeper

Radom will preserve the historic 1936 Tower Theatre's Art Deco marquee, while providing new facades to the remainder of the development, per the release.

Radom officials said they have signed eight new leases since acquiring the property in late 2019. Construction began in July and is anticipated to wrap in early 2025, per the release. The new tenant mix will include multiple restaurants, fitness and wellness uses.
