Avanti Senior Living will open two new communities for assisted living and memory care patients in The Woodlands area by 2017.

The first location on Vision Park Drive in Shenandoah is expected to open during the second quarter of 2016, featuring 90 suites. Another location in Creekside Park near the Augusta Pines area will break ground in early 2016.

Fifty of the suites at the Shenandoah location are geared specifically toward assisted living patients while the remaining 40 suites are in a secured area for memory care patients. There are one- and two-bedroom suites available, ranging in size from 550-800 square feet.

“Inside of them it’s just like a customized apartment,” Chief Operating Officer Lori Alford said. “We have nice countertops, tile and the lighting is something you’d see in a custom home. They have really spacious closets and bathrooms and custom cabinetry. It’s not like a hospital at all.”

Avanti caters to patients with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, in addition to assisted living patients, who can be more independent but still need help with activities like showering and getting dressed.

The community offers a number of residential amenities, including a strength studio offering bar workouts, senior yoga and senior strength building, an art studio, a salon offering massages and facials, and a restaurant. Meals and snacks are included in each resident’s rent.

The new community can house up to 100 residents, each of whom is given a customized care plan based on their needs.
