Amy Reed Amy Reed[/caption] Amy Reed’s path to her current job with the city of Katy was not a traditional one. The city’s community relations and marketing coordinator found a new career after a divorce and wondering what to do next. “I realized that I needed to take a leap of faith,” Reed said. “I completely found my passion for environmental education by happenstance. It was a real blessing.” Reed works in the city’s parks and recreation department, helping with various projects as well as working to draw more citizens into volunteering opportunities. Reed moved to Katy from the Bryan-College Station area where she was the executive director of Keep Brazos Beautiful. She is a board member of Keep Texas Beautiful. “Part of my role here is to help create volunteer opportunities,” Reed said. “It’s a great way to help the city and to make friends.” Katy City Administrator Byron Hebert said Reed has been beneficial to the city’s efforts to create a more beautiful community. “The knowledge she brings is a great asset,” Hebert said. “With her leadership at the state level, we’re now able to harness that knowledge.” “The city is growing,” Reed said. “We want people to grow with us and be a part of the good things to come.”
