The Katy Rotary Club will hold its fourth annual Wild West Brew Fest on May 2 at Katy Mills Mall. The event features more than 400 taps, a 100,000 square-foot festival area and performances by country artists J.T. Hodges and Curtis Grimes.

"We're the second-best event in the country when it comes to beer, according to BeerYeti.com. It's second only to the Great American Beer Fest in Denver, which is also the largest [in the country]," said David Loesch, the chairman of the Wild West Brew Fest.

Proceeds from the event raise money for Katy ISD afterschool programs and local charities such as Katy Christian Ministries, Rainbow Room and Casa de Esperanza, Loesch said.

"The first year we had 17,000 people and raised $17,000. We gave $7,000 to charities and held $10,000 to host the next event," Loesch said. "The second year we had between 25,000 and 28,000 people and gave $17,000 away. Last year, 44,000 people came and we gave $60,000 away."
