Spring ISD is holding a $330 million bond referendum on Nov. 8, and members of the community are invited to learn what the referendum entails. The district will hold a series of meetings held at the district’s middle schools in September and October to discuss the components of the referendum. If voters approve the measure, the bonds will fund improvements in school facilities, technology, safety and security, construction of three ninth-grade schools, two middle schools and the purchase of additional buses. “It has been nearly a decade since our district has called for a bond election, and these meetings will give community members a number of opportunities to learn in detail about the capital needs that have been included in the bond package,” said SISD Superintendent Rodney E. Watson. The last bond referendum for $280 million was approved by voters in 2007. Translation services will be provided at the meetings, according to the district. The meeting schedule is: • Tuesday, Sept. 27: Twin Creeks Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Tuesday, Oct. 4: Bailey Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Wednesday, Oct. 5: Bammel Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Monday, Oct. 10: Dueitt Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Thursday, Oct. 13: Claughton Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Monday, Oct. 17: Wells Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. • Thursday, Oct. 20: Roberson Middle School, 6-7:30 p.m. For more information about the bond referendum, visit www.springisd.org/bond2016 or call the district at 281-891-6005.
