Previously serving as acting president since August, Lee Ann Nutt will begin her role as the official president of Lone Star College–Tomball on Feb. 15.

"Dr. Nutt is a passionate advocate for students, employees, the college and the community," said Steve Head, chancellor of the Lone Star College System. "She is the obvious choice for this role. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Nutt to champion LSC–Tomball's future."

The 20 members of the president's search advisory committee announced their decision to unanimously select Nutt for the position Feb. 9. Nutt will fill the role previously occupied by past LSC–Tomball president Susan Karr. Beginning in 1999, Nutt served in a number of administrative roles at North Central Texas College and began her previous LSC–Tomball position as vice president of instruction in 2011.

Nutt has earned her doctorate of education, a master's degree in higher education administration with a focus on community college leadership and a bachelor's degree in management from Texas Tech University.

"I've been in community college leadership for over 15 years," Nutt said. "It's a mission, it's a love, it's making a difference for people, it's providing the first responders and it's changing people's lives. We have some of the most determined students you'll ever see."
