Spring ISD five-year plan prompts changes Spring ISD Superintendent Rodney Watson is using data from an independent auditor to implement districtwide changes.[/caption] Following an independent audit report and various reviews, Spring ISD Superintendent Rodney Watson announced organizational changes for the 2015-16 school year Dec. 10, including the restructuring of leadership at several schools throughout the 37-campus district. The announcement comes as SISD is preparing to institute a new five-year strategic plan in 2015 designed to address several issues within the district, according to SISD officials. "Beginning in January, we will start drafting an ambitious five-year strategic plan designed to turn around the district's low-performing schools, improve student achievement for all, strengthen academic options and choices, and ensure all our schools are safe and secure environments for students and staff," Watson said. Conducted by Ohio-based firm, Battell for Kids, the audit has led to several districtwide organizational changes, including bolstering the human resources department and the development of a new approach to academics and student support services. A national search for an executive director of human resources is underway. The successful candidate will report to the district's chief human resources officer. Other changes include the restructuring of the Office of School Leadership and New Leadership at schools in the next school year. Beginning in the 2015-16 school year, Carla Jones-Taylor will serve as the new principal of Bammel Elementary School and David Baxter will serve as the new principal of Claughton Middle School. In addition, Pam Farinas will serve as the new principal of Dekaney High School and Grace Leal will take over as the new principal of Lewis Elementary School.
