Fort Bend ISD officials are one step closer to finalizing the district's new feeder patterns and attendance boundaries.
District administrators are presenting an updated plan during the board of trustees' Jan. 12 meeting. The updated plan reflects more than 12,000 online questionnaires and extensive community feedback. New demographic information from Population and Survey Analysts will also be discussed.
The updated plan—which encompasses feeder patterns, attendance boundaries and an implementation plan—will then be presented to the community during two meetings. The first meeting will be from 7–9 p.m. Jan. 20 at Travis High School and the second from 7–9 p.m. Jan. 21 at Elkins High School.
FBISD has sought community feedback on the district's feeder patterns and boundaries to continue its goal to balance current enrollment and allow room for future growth. More than 18,000 online submissions from the community have been submitted between October and December, according to the district.
Two scenarios have been presented to the board of trustees between October and November. Scenario A was presented at the Oct. 20 meeting and proposed a decrease in the number of elementary to middle school feeder splits from 34 to six, and decreased middle to high school splits from 16 to 5, said Scott Leopold, project director for DeJong-Richter.
Scenario B, presented at the Nov. 17 meeting, decreased the number of elementary to middle school feeder splits to eight, and middle to high school splits to six. Both proposed scenarios would require boundary realignment for 19 elementary schools.
The district will present its final recommendation to the board of trustees for approval Jan. 26.
