Cy-Fair ISD is one of 46 school districts statewide to receive a five-star rating from state Comptroller Susan Combs for academic and financial performance for the 2013–14 year.
"I am proud that the comptroller has recognized Cy-Fair ISD with a fifth consecutive five-star rating," said Stuart Snow, CFISD associate superintendent of business and financial services. "I am even more proud that we are one of only four school districts out of more than 1,200 in Texas to earn the five-star rating all five years of the program's existence."
According to data released in early December, CFISD was one of four districts out of 1,200 statewide to be awarded the five-star designation for five consecutive years. Additionally, the district was one of only 26 districts to retain the designation for two years in a row.
"The state comptroller's annual Financial Allocation Study for Texas is an analysis of financial performance that, when combined with academic performance, provides a measure of financial efficiency," Snow said. "In other words, what is the community's 'bang for the buck' for its school district."
CFISD earned a "very high" in the academic progress category and a "very low" in the spending index category. The five-star rating is a combination of the district's strong academic performance and low relative spending.
