Cy-Fair ISD trustees honored long-time former employee Charlotte Burns on Nov. 10 when the board officially approved her as the namesake for the district's Science Resource Center.

"I am honored, flattered and excited to be here tonight," Burns said. "It's a humbling experience to have your name on a building."

Burns worked for CFISD for 31 years in several capacities, starting as a teacher at Hancock and Adam elementary schools. She went on to serve as a middle school science coordinator, director of secondary science and as the director of curriculum and instruction for middle schools.

"Charlotte's significant contributions to science education in both CFISD and the entire state will live on as generations of current and future students will enjoy the outstanding science facility bearing her name," Superintendent Mark Henry said.

The district's Science Resource Center is located off Telge Road near Cy-Fair High School and houses a variety of animals and serves as host to special demonstrations for students.
