With fall in the air during October and November, there is an increased need for warm beverages and cozy hangouts. There are plenty of coffee and tea locations around the Katy area.

Fulshear’s First Cup Cafe serves breakfast and lunch along with its gourmet coffees and smoothies. The cafe has a comfortable amount of space for working and studying, with free Wi-Fi and TVs on the walls. Customer favorites include traditional cafe mochas and lattes, and open mic night on Fridays.

This traditional tea shop serves Southern comfort foods, such as shepherd’s pie, quiche, and a variety of cakes and pies. Customers can also order pots of tea served and presented in quaint pieces of china. Options include black tea, flavored teas, peach tea and chocolate madness.

On top of the tea house’s menu of Vietnamese sandwiches and snacks, the drink menu features 187 different options from smoothies to flavored teas. Customer favorites include the Oreo Cookies and Cream Shake and lychee teas.

Customers will find traditional hot and cold favorites, such as lattes, iced coffee, frozen drinks and sugar-free beverages. There are also pastries for sale. Each month, the coffee shop donates to a different organization. In October, some of its profits go to the Mercy House of Kenya, which assists pregnant young girls living on the streets in Kenya.



7. Kung Fu Tea

The expansive drink selection includes slushes, fruit and milk teas, classic tea, and yogurt tea. There are sugar and ice levels in drinks as well as a list of unique add-ons, from bubble to red beans.

Leafology’s two locations in Katy specialize in premium teas made from tea leaves without any powder. Their menu includes creama teas, which are layered with cream, milk-based teas, floral teas, fruit teas, slushies and smoothies. Boba fans can add on a variety of flavors to any drink, such as lychee popping boba and green apple popping boba. The shops have free Wi-Fi for customers as well as a food menu with sandwiches, salads and tacos.



9. Proud Pie

Proud Pie is known for its fresh homemade pies and desserts. It also serves gourmet coffees made from beans roasted in Texas. The shop sells hot espresso drinks, drip coffee, smoothies and frappes as well as a selection of imported teas, iced tea mocktails and gourmet hot chocolate. The shop offers a sandwich menu as well.



10. Sertino’s Cafe

Sertinos Cafe offers locally roasted coffee, specialty sandwiches, paninis and desserts. There are 24 coffee roasts—from Ethiopian to Italian roast—as well as frozen blended coffees and specialty espresso beverages. The smoothie selection includes a variety of fruit blends, and there is both ice cream and frozen yogurt.



11. Snow Bubble Hut

This tea spot may specialize in snow ice, which is an Asian dessert with a consistency in between ice cream and snow cones, but it also has a robust drink menu. Customers can buy cream slushes, coffees, fruit-flavored teas and milk teas, and there are options to add boba in all drinks. There is Wi-Fi, and most of the tables inside have plugs nearby for electronics. The shop also offers Vietnamese sandwiches and other food items available for order.



12. Teahouse Express

Teahouse Express can be found in Katy Mills and sells a variety of boba, green and cream teas as well as slushes and smoothies. Customers can access free Wi-Fi, watch TV or try their hand at the DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) setups near the counter.



13. The Coffee Tale

The Coffee Tale, originally from Huntington Beach, California, opened in Katy last year. It sells teas and coffees from all over the world. Its coffee roast selection includes Brazilian, Costa Rican and Sumatra blends as well as Guatemalan, Kenyan and Turkish coffee. There are also a variety of caffeinated and noncaffeinated teas, such as the Earl Grey creme or French lemon ginger.
